Zorra Now Fall 2023
Zorra Now | Fall 2023 35 TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY INFORMATION Thamesford Trojans Jr. C Hockey Club Hello out there! The Trojans are getting set for another exciting season of PJHL hockey. The team is almost assembled for the upcoming season with at least four new players. Our 2022- 2023 team was very successful winning our division but unable to advance in our conference. We are one of 62 teams that make up the PJHL. The PJHL is the Provincial Junior Hockey League and is the largest league in North America. It has 8 divisions and 4 conferences. The four conferences are North, South, East and West. The Trojans are part of the West conference and are in the Yeck division. The Yeck division is made up of 9 teams: Exeter Hawks (1961); Lucan Irish (1968); Port Stanley Sailors (1969); Mount Brydges Bulldogs (1975); Thamesford Trojans (1976); Petrolia Flyers (1988); North Middlesex (Parkhill) Stars (1993); Aylmer Spitfires (1994); Dorchester Dolphins (2 012). The crowning victory is winning the Clarence Schmalz cup at the end of the season. This past season the Schmalz Cup tournament was held in Woodstock and was won by the Wellesley Applejacks. Over the past seven seasons the teams within our division have proven to be very competitive. On any given night every team must bring its “A” game. This makes for exciting hockey action. Last season the fans witnessed a number of upsets; points don’t always decide the game. Judging from the increase in the number of fans in the stands I would have to say that the Trojans have GREAT FAN support. Viewing the Trojans program demonstrates to the team that they have SUPER SPONSORS. Without you, the fans and the sponsors, the Trojans would have a very difficult time competing. We thank all of you for your support. Mark it on your calendar: Our first home game is Friday September 15th at 7:30pm. I hope to see you there. Tony Redix, President TROJANS NEWS
