The club is also looking for volunteers to help make it a rewarding experience for the youth. The Brooksdale 4-H Club started the year off with a Pizza 4-H project where they explored the different types of pizza with making various pizzas throughout the project. They finished the project with cooking pizza on an open fire. Next came the Niche 4-H project where they toured different crops—garlic, flowers, lavender, hops, leeks and other vegetables. They did the ‘soil your undies’ test with underwear discovering how healthy the soil is. Now the club youth are now exploring the Potato 4-H project with harvesting, cooking and playing games with potatoes. It might seem like a long time away, but March will be here and so will the 4-H Pancake Fundraiser at Jakeman’s Maple Products. Mark your calendar to come and see 4-H youth during this fun ‘learn to do by doing’ experience on the weekends of March. The 4-H Ontario youth participant fee is paid online directly with 4-H Ontario. The Oxford County 4-H Association will be subsidizing the provincial youth participant fee by $25.00 for Oxford 4-H youth members for 2024 with the George Thornton Bequest Funds. Oxford 4-H youth members will pay $75 to join 4-H in 2024—registration opened Nov 16th on the 4-H Ontario website.
