We apologize for the inconvenience. Alternative convenient battery disposal options still exist within Oxford County: a) RecycleYourBatteries.ca shows your nearest drop off locations based on postal code. There are several locations in Ingersoll, Woodstock, Stratford, Tavistock and East London. b) Take a trip to Oxford’s Waste Management Facility in Salford, open 6 days a week, to drop off all specialty waste including electronics, tires, batteries and much more - Special Recycling - Oxford County c) Utilize reusable cardboard cubes from Call2Recycle to store batteries until you are able to drop them off to a designated location BATTERY DISPOSAL Battery Safety Information 1. Inspect batteries for any signs of damage or defect (swollen, corroded, leaking, or burn marks). 2. Always practice care when handling batteries and use protective gloves/eyewear if there are any signs of rupture. 3. Put a piece of masking tape over the +/- terminals of the battery to avoid short circuit. 4. Store batteries in a non-conductive container made of plastic and keep away from heat sources or metal. 5. Batteries which are damaged, defective, or recalled (DDR) should be put in individual plastic bags and stored safely away from other batteries until they can be taken to a disposal location. 6. Dispose of used batteries at least every 3 months to avoid corrosion.
