TOWNSHIP DEPARTMENT INFORMATION TOWNSHIP DEPARTMENT INFORMATION 18 Zorra Now | Winter 2025 Zorra Now | Winter 2025 19 THANK YOU Zorra Fire & Emergency Services would like to give a huge thank you to Happy Hills Campground for their generous donation! This donation was used to purchase a Holley Tube for transferring water efficiently between portable tanks for fire staff to combat fires effectively. HAPPY HILLS CAMPGROUND! A special shoutout to all who supported Uniondale Station’s Chicken BBQ in September, we want to thank you and know that we greatly appreciated your support. The funds raised from the BBQ are used to purchase useful equipment to benefit our stations, as well as to donate to worthy causes. Thank you for doing your part! Zorra Fire & Emergency Services Long Service Awards On November 27, 2025, members of Zorra Fire & Emergency Services and some members of Zorra Staff and Council, gathered to celebrate their achievements at a Long Service Award Presentation in Embro. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Village Catering & Deli in Thamesford, followed by awards presentations. Thank you to Mary Ellen Muterer for providing her bag piping services for this event! Congratulations to all the award winners, and all members of ZF&ES and thank you for your service! Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation Zorra’s fire protection district has been added to the list of accredited agencies for the delivery of Superior Tanker Shuttle Services. With that, the appropriate changes to the Canadian Fire Insurance Grading Index have been made. As our township is an accredited agency for the delivery of Superior Tanker Shuttle Services, constituents within our fire protection district who own detached dwellings and are within a qualifying road distance of the responding fire station (8km from a fire station and 5km from a certified water refill site – DPG, 5km from a fire station and 2.5km from a certified water refill site – PEPC), are eligible to receive a significant cost reduction in their fire insurance rates from the majority of insurers in Canada. Insurers utilize the information provided by Fire Underwriters Survey in setting property insurance rates throughout Canada. Insurers are advised that Superior Tank Shuttle Services (STSS) Accredited to fire protection districts qualify for hydrant protected equivalency status and may be rated as protected. Please note that insurers are under no obligation to accept this equivalency; however, the Fire Underwriters Survey recommends that they do so. You can find the attachment for the Accreditation letter of recognition for insurance companies on our website under the protective services/fire section. www.zorra.ca/our-services/protective-services/fire/ . If you would like to receive future issues of Zorra Now by email, send an email to admin@zorra.ca to get added to our list! Hard copies will also be available at our local libraries and arenas.
