TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY INFORMATION TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY INFORMATION 30 Zorra Now | Spring 2026 Zorra Now | Spring 2026 31 Zorra Heritage Committee The “Greats of Zorra” Project The Beachville District Historical Society’s Zorra Heritage Committee is currently researching and compiling the stories of notable individuals connected to Zorra who achieved recognition beyond the Township’s borders. To date, more than 70 individuals have been identified as part of the committee’s Greats of Zorra project, and additional suggestions from the community are always welcome. Each month, the committee will feature one of these stories in the Village Voice, so be sure to follow along. We encourage your participation and contributions as we work together to share and celebrate Zorra’s rich history. The Greats of Zorra In order to meet the criteria for inclusion in the project, individuals must be: • deceased; • connected to Zorra (not necessarily born in Zorra); and • recognized for their contribution outside of Zorra. 1. With a cast of sixteen actors, a dedicated crew of ten, and playwright William Butt, this new production brought the proud history of Zorra Township vividly to life. Staging the performance in the Embro Old Town Hall—built just one year before the final Tug of War victory—added a special sense of authenticity and connection to the story. We are also deeply grateful to our sponsors for their support, with special thanks to the Zorra Caledonians.
